Materials containing moisture and Volatile
Organic Compounds are charged to a Fluidised
Bed Calciner.
Fluidising air is blown upwards through
a sand/material bed of material, which is
fluidised by the flow of air.
Natural gas is injected into the bed to
maintain a temperature of 850°C. The
violent movement within the hot bed provides
an efficient environment for the evaporation
of water and combustion of organic volatile
compounds.
All fume is ducted through a bag filtration
plant before being exhausted to atmosphere.
The exhaust stack is monitored and linked
to a data recording device.
The equipment produces a dry, organic-free
material suitable for charging to the blast
furnace.
